CRM and Pipeline Management
CoreEvery contact is tracked in GHL's built-in CRM. Custom fields, tags, smart lists, and visual pipelines let you see exactly where each lead sits. Every touchpoint (calls, emails, SMS, form fills) is logged automatically. For agencies managing client leads across multiple businesses, the sub-account model keeps everything isolated and clean. We ran 1,200+ leads across eight client pipelines without it feeling unwieldy. It is simpler than Salesforce but covers 95% of what most agencies actually need.

Full CRM breakdownWorkflow Automation
Best featureGHL's automation builder (called Workflows) is its strongest selling point. Triggers include form fills, tag changes, pipeline stage moves, appointment bookings, missed calls, and more. Actions include email, SMS, calls, voicemails, Slack notifications, Google Sheets updates, and conditional if/else branches. Once a workflow is built, it runs without any manual input. A typical new lead workflow: form fill triggers a text within 60 seconds, followed by an email sequence, a call task for the sales team, and an appointment booking link if no reply after 48 hours. This used to require a VA. GHL does it automatically.

GoodDrag-and-drop email builder, broadcast campaigns, drip sequences, and behaviour-triggered emails. The editor is functional but not as polished as Klaviyo or ActiveCampaign. For most agency and local business use cases it is more than adequate. Important: GHL uses LC Mail (Mailgun infrastructure) which charges $0.01 per email sent on top of your subscription. At 10,000 emails a month that is $100 extra. Factor this into your cost calculations before migrating off a flat-rate email platform.

Two-Way SMS
StandoutNative two-way SMS is one of GHL's genuine differentiators. Real conversations happen inside the platform, no Twilio setup required, no third-party integration. For local businesses (gyms, salons, clinics, tradespeople) doing appointment reminders and follow-ups by text, response rates are significantly higher than email. SMS costs roughly $0.01 per message via LC Phone (Twilio infrastructure). Inbound and outbound are both billable. Usage costs can be rebilled to clients on the Pro and Agency plans.

Funnel and Website Builder
SolidDrag-and-drop funnel and website builder comparable to ClickFunnels 2.0. Solid template library covering opt-in pages, sales pages, order forms, upsells, and thank-you pages. Not as design-flexible as Webflow or Framer, but for conversion-focused pages it does the job. We have launched 14+ client funnels without writing a line of code. The builder connects directly to the CRM, so form fills automatically create contacts and trigger workflows.

Calendar and Appointment Booking
Replaces CalendlyFull booking system built into the platform. Supports individual and team calendars, round-robin assignment, service menus, buffer times, and automated SMS/email reminders before and after appointments. For any business where appointments are the primary conversion event, this feature alone saves $20-50/mo in Calendly fees and eliminates a manual step in the workflow. Reminders fire automatically with no VA needed to follow up.

Reputation Management
Revenue driverAutomated review requests sent via SMS and email after a service interaction. Google and Facebook review responses visible in one dashboard. For local businesses where Google reviews directly drive footfall and ranking, this feature pays for itself quickly. Many agencies sell reputation management as a standalone service at $200-500/mo per client, making GHL's cost irrelevant on its own.

Memberships and Online Courses
IncludedHost video courses, create lesson modules, and restrict access by membership tier, all inside GHL. Not as polished as Kajabi or Teachable for pure course creators, but it covers the basics and saves the separate platform cost. For coaches and consultants who want to offer a client portal alongside their CRM and automation, it means one fewer tool in the stack.

AI Messaging and Smart Workflows
New in 2026GHL's AI tools let you build automated conversations that respond to inbound leads intelligently. A lead texts in, AI qualifies them with follow-up questions, and books a call, without any human involvement. The AI employee features are available on the Pro plan and above. Early results from agency users show significant time savings on lead qualification, though the AI responses require careful setup and testing to avoid awkward interactions.

White Label and SaaS Mode
Pro and aboveBrand the entire platform as your own software. Custom domain, logo, and colors. Clients never see the GHL name. On the Pro plan ($297/mo) you get the white-label desktop app. On Agency Pro ($497/mo) you also get a white-label mobile app. SaaS mode lets you automatically provision sub-accounts for new clients, set your own pricing, and have GHL handle billing on your behalf. Most agencies charge $97-497/mo per client on a platform that costs them $297/mo flat.
